Located on the east side of Majorca between Manacor and Artà, it has 3,000 inhabitants. It also had a traditional agricultural economy (almonds, cereals and carob trees), also being renowned for its needlework industry.
The town was built around the church (Major, Pou, Femenies, De la Mar, Sant Llorenç and Carrerillo Streets) and is a quiet spot with many houses built in the traditional Majorcan style.
